03 May 2020

The nation comes to a standstill, the extended lockdown due to the raging pandemic COVID-19 has made us caged into our homes and for all good reasons!

We are blessed to be able to spend more time at home, eat and drink healthy and enjoy the sun tan for few more days since Going out for parties, movies, shopping and being outdoors will still not be there in our lists for a long time. With that comes the struggle of taking care of our skin and hair, facial and waxing since no salons to go, we know that! Even if we're working from home or binge-watching our favourite shows while we possess self-quarantine we all must invest time in pampering our skin in all-natural ways. Here are a few easy ways by which you can take care of your skin without being a skin and hair expert too!

DIYs are one of the best ways of keeping your skin healthy without burning a huge hole in your pocket and wallet! They're natural and harmless!

FACE MASKS

BANANA FACE MASKS: One of the easiest face masks to achieve. You just need to mash up few medium-sized bananas into a smooth paste and apply on your face and neck for 10-15 minutes and wash it off with cold water. It gives your face a natural glow and you end up feeling so fresh!

MILK FACE MASK: Milk a great ingredient to lighten your skin and moisturize it as well. Make a homemade facemask by adding 1/4th of powdered milk with water and make a smooth paste out of it. Just apply it and see the difference!

LEMON FACE MASK: We know how useful is lemon when it comes to reducing tan and clearing our face, add 1 lemon to 1/4th cup of olive oil and apply it on your face to see your face glow!

DIY SKINCARE

OATMEAL AS ACNE CLEANSERS: Oats are used as animal feed and skin/food products. Known for their extreme health benefits, they are the best to remove excess oils and acne. Take half a cup of oatmeal and water and boil it. Let it cool after some time and stir it well to get a smooth paste . Keep it for 20 minutes and wash off with warm water!

SUGAR: Sugar has a lot of skin benefits, from lip smoothening to legs, it also helps you hands look younger if applied. No wonder they are the best natural scrubs. All you need to do it is wet your fingers and dip them onto the sugar particles and apply on your lips in a circular motion. Your lips will feel more clean and soft.

ICE CUBES: Summers are round the corner and what feels better than ice! It soothes pimples and sunburns, reduces wrinkles under eye and improves blood circulation. You can apply them directly on the skin.

ALOE VERA FACE MIST: You can also make a cooling spray out of cucumber, aloe vera and lemon juice. Apply it every time you wash your face!

COCONUT OIL BODY SCRUB: Take ¼- ½ cup of sugar and ½ cup of coconut oil, mix them well until it gets coarse. Do not boil it since it will melt the sugar. Cleanse your body and apply it all over it and gently massage it in circular motions and rinse it off with lukewarm water. Repeat the process twice a week.

Waxing and shaving could be really challenging when it comes to doing it at home, obviously because we are so used to it at salons, but wait! We've got you covered with this too!

We can always make shaving creams to use before actually shaving the unwanted hair from the skin and there are many benefits of doing it.

1. It leaves your legs, face, or armpits soft.

2.It allows you to get a closer shave than just lathered soap.

You can also make homemade soaps for doing so. One of the easiest ways of doing it is combining ¾ cup of conditioner, ¼ cup of shampoo, 4 tbsp of Almond oil or coconut oil and 10 drops of essential oil and make a lather out of it and apply it.

We do miss going for waxing sessions, don't we?

Most of the ladies out there, we are all used to get waxed at least once a month, we need to wear our favorite pair of shorts after all! Let me tell you one of the easiest and stress-free way of doing it.

One of them is SOFT WAX (best for larger areas like arms, legs, etc). It includes a cup of white granulated sugar,1 tbsp lemon juice, ¼ cup honey. Melt the sugar in a pot over medium heat. Once the sugar has caramelized, slowly add lemon juice and honey. If the wax is too thick, add a small amount of water and stir. To this, you can always add 20 grams of organic cocoa powder for chocolate wax, 20 grams of powdered fruit mix for fruit wax and 20 grams of pure honey extract for honey wax respectively.

By doing this we not only save a lot of money but with the natural ingredients, we tend to care our skin more.

Well since we all are quarantined, I think it's the best time that we pamper ourselves with these recipes, reduce our boredom and make the best use to groom ourselves naturally!
